Inside, the villa retains many original features include a trapdoor staircase, a traditional platform for sleeping, a Cretan door to the kitchen garden, the original fournos with wood burning stove, which can be lit on chilly evenings and Cretan-style sink. Stripped wood floors, stonewalls and original woodwork give an authentic atmosphere to this comfortable house. There are even some bedrock and crystal outcrops in the kitchen of this house, which is built directly into the mountainside.

A small herb garden just outside the kitchen door is perfectly placed to catch the morning sun. The smell of fresh thyme and basil will mingle with the aroma of fresh coffee as you sit on your balcony on warm, clear mornings.

Why Albion House?

There is a legend that talks of an ancient Greek king who had 33 daughters. Amazingly he finds husbands for them all, but his choice is not to their liking.

The daughters rise up and
rebel against their father who, as punishment, has them cast adrift in a small boat. After many months journeying, they find themselves cast up on a strange and wild shore. Deciding to settle there, they give it the name 'Albion' in honour of Albyna, the oldest daughter and their leader.

Albion is the ancient, classical
name for England. (West Bromwich Albion is also the owner's favourite football team!)
